Manage time-sensitive assessments with automated followups
Deadlines create urgency and keep your hiring pipeline moving. TalentScreen lets you set exam expiration dates and automates reminder emails to candidates who haven't started or completed their assessments.
Typical deadlines are 3-7 days from invitation. Too short and qualified candidates can't accommodate their schedule. Too long and you signal the role isn't urgent.
Set Deadline During Invitation
When inviting candidates, toggle 'Set Deadline' and choose a date. Or set a relative deadline: '3 days from invitation sent'. All candidates get the same window.
Configure Reminder Schedule
Enable automated reminders: send 1 day after invitation (if not started), 1 day before deadline (if not completed). Customize reminder email copy.
Handle Expired Exams
Choose what happens at deadline: auto-reject, move to 'expired' status (manual review later), or allow late submissions with a flag.
Extend Deadlines for Exceptions
From a candidate's profile, click 'Extend Deadline'. Common reasons: candidate requested more time, role urgency decreased, or you're awaiting stronger applicant pool.
Track Deadline Compliance
Analytics show what percentage of candidates complete before deadline. Low rates? Consider longer windows or shorter exams.
Be consistent with deadlines to ensure fairness. Extending for some candidates but not others can create bias or legal risk.
First reminder should be friendly and helpful: 'Just checking if you need any technical support to get started.' Final reminder can be more urgent: 'Assessment closes tomorrow.' Too many reminders feel spammy, stick to 2-3 max.
