Essential preparation steps before starting your assessment.
Proper preparation ensures you can focus on demonstrating your skills without technical interruptions. Follow this checklist before starting your exam.
Use a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge - latest version). Disable browser extensions that might interfere with the exam, especially ad blockers or script managers.
Test your internet connection. A stable connection is essential. If using WiFi, sit close to your router or consider using a wired connection for critical assessments.
Run a connection speed test before starting. Minimum recommended: 5 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload.
Find a quiet, well-lit space where you won't be interrupted. Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs to minimize distractions and ensure your computer runs smoothly.
Have a notepad and pen ready for calculations or planning. While the exam may include a research journal for notes, some candidates prefer physical paper for quick sketches or problem-solving.
Review the estimated exam duration and add 15-30 minutes as buffer time. Block this entire period in your calendar. The exam cannot be paused once started, so ensure you have uninterrupted availability.
Fully charge your laptop or plug it into power. Auto-save features help protect your work, but unexpected shutdowns can be stressful.
Read through the anti-cheat rules and acceptable research practices. Understanding what resources you can and cannot use prevents accidental violations that could disqualify your submission.
